Ozone treatment oxidises organic contaminants in much the same way that chlorine does. The ozone process entails production of ozone by ionization of oxygen using ahigh voltage electrical discharge. Either air or oxygen is used as feed gas.
When the feed gas (air or Oxygen) passed through a gap between two electrodes, which are seperated and has dielectric material in the gap, high voltage is across the two electrodes. These conditions create a silent electric discharge due to which energetic excitation of molecular oxygen to dissociate into atomic oxygen and forms Ozone.
